About Maklin Bike Shop
Maklin Bike Shop is a Cervélo, Niner, Bianchi, Time Bicycle, Salsa & Jamis bikes dealer located along the Swedish Immigrant Trail in the small town of Shafer, only a half mile off Highway 8, between the Chisago Lakes Area and the St. Croix River Valley.
Maklin has a full service dept handling anything from basic a la-carte service to full overhauls down to the frame and most anything in-between. Maklin also sells and stocks a variety of parts and accessories from brands like Park Tools, Lezyne, SILCA, POC, Smith Helmets, Maxxis, Vittoria, Lake Shoes, Shimano, SRAM, Wolf Tooth, Revelate Bags, Apidura, Ortlieb, Garmin, Wahoo, Ceramic Speed, etc...
Looking for a custom-built bike, a slight variation of a stock build or something in-between…? They can build up complete custom bikes or swap parts in/out of existing builds to get you the personalized ride that you are looking for.
Owners Lynn and Steve both work in the shop full time and you will find their two boys coming in and out of the shop as well.
Where does the name Maklin come from...? Lynn's maiden name is Makela and Steve's last name is Hamlin. A combination of the two and there you go!
Lynn has an Information Systems degree from Michigan Tech and runs much of our general store operations and service scheduling, along with taking care of our website, social media accounts and the business office. When Lynn's not at the store or running the boys around for their activities, she enjoys getting out for a nice casual ride on the mountain bike trails or bike path and has entered some mountain bike and gravel races.
Steve has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan Tech and handles a majority of our service work, along with helping customers narrow down the right bike, parts or accessories for their ride. You can frequently find him riding his bike home at night from the shop or sneaking out in the morning for a quick gravel ride. Steve loves finding new places to ride or races to challenge himself and has done various endurance races such as the Marji Gesick 100, Maah Daah Hey 100, Badlands Gravel Battle, Lutsen 99er, Wilderness 101, Wildmerman Full Iron Offroad Tri, Tuscobia 80 and many others.
Stop by the store to chat about bikes or take a spin on the Swedish Immigrant Bike Trail!
Enjoy the Ride!
